Rajapatni puts up a banner ꦧꦼꦂꦄꦏ꧀ꦱꦫꦗꦮ in Javanese script at the fish seller’s market in Kenjeran.

Rajapatni.com: Surabaya (23/2/24) – The participants of Sinau Aksara Jawa, held by ꦥꦸꦫꦶꦄꦏ꧀ꦱꦫꦫꦴꦗꦥꦠ꧀ꦤꦷ Puri Aksara Rajapatni at the Surabaya Education Museum complex, Saturday (24/ will put up banners written in Javanese script for traders in the area selling fish products in Kenjeran and the Dharmahusada and Manukan Kulon areas.

The installation of banners for street traders is part of the Sinau Javanese Aksara project as a final project and also a form of campaign for the use of Javanese script among the people in the city of ꦯꦸꦫꦨꦪ Surabaya. The contents of this writing in Javanese script are the names of the sales stands.

According to the Sinau Javanese Script class mentor, who is also the founder of the Puri Aksara Rajapatni community as the activity organizer, Ita Surojoyo, the task of installing banners with Javanese Script is to introduce Javanese Script in the community.

“The baskets selling snacks like cilok that walk from one place to another are an effective campaign medium for ꦄꦏ꧀ꦱꦫꦗꦮ Javanese script,” explained Ita, who works as an overseas education consultant on a daily basis.

For the first project of the ꦱꦶꦤꦻꦴꦄꦏ꧀ꦱꦫꦗꦮ Sinau Javanese Script class, the installation was dominated in the Kenjeran fish seller area because some of the sinau participants lived in Kenjeran. Because the place is a fish sales center, it is very possible for more than one seller to be the object of displaying banners with Javanese characters.

Meanwhile, other installations are in the Dharmahusada area of East Surabaya and ꦩꦤꦸꦏꦤ꧀ꦏꦸꦭꦺꦴꦤ꧀ Manukan Kulon West Surabaya. The installation of this Javanese script banner is a form of effort to popularize the Javanese script in line with the Surabaya City Government’s policy of grounding the Javanese script in Surabaya.

So far, the Surabaya City Government, through OPDs, sub-districts and sub-districts, have partially used Javanese script to write the names of their offices. Meanwhile, ꦫꦶ ꦄꦏ꧀ꦱꦫꦫꦴꦗꦥꦠ꧀ꦤꦷ Puri Aksara Rajapatni grounded Javanese script through the grass roots (bottom up) so that in time there would be a meeting between top down and bottom up movements.
